The effect of facilitative communication of parents and competence of emotional regulation of children on problem behaviors

Abstract
This research aimed to analyze how the relative influence in terms of social demographic variables of survey recipients, parents¡¯ facilitative communication and emotional regulation affect on problem behaviors. For this purpose, this research selected 3 elementary schools located in Gwangju Metropolitan City and chose 387 fifth and sixth grade students as survey recipients. For statistical analysis, the present research calculated frequency, percentage and Cronbach¡¯s ¥á. Futhermore, the research conducted T-test, one way AVONA, and Duncan test as a post -test. Besides, to find out relative influence of independent variables executed hierarchical regression analysis after calculating Pearson¡¯s product-moment correlation coefficient. The results were summarized, as follows : First, there was the respective significant difference according to each subordinate factor of problem behavior by social demographic variables, facilitative Communication of Parents and competence of emotional regulation of children. Second, as a result of hierarchical regression analysis in order to find out independent variable¡¯s relative influence on problem behaviors, it appeared that competence of emotional regulation affected significant influence problem behaviors. In general, the avoidance among subordinate domains of competence of emotional regulation appeared the most important variable in an aspect of total problem behaviors, and although the influence of independent variables appeared differently according to a subordinate factor, the emotional measure and avoidance, which are a subordinate domain of competence of emotional regulation, appeared to be important in common.
